Network administrator software components
NOTE: HP Web Jetadmin is not included on the printer CD. Network administrators can download the HP Web Jetadmin software at the following Web site: www.hp.com/go/webjetadmin.
Network administrators can use HP Utility with OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion, and OS X 10.9 Mavericks, OS X 10.10 Yosemite to configure and manage HP printers from the computer. The printing-system software, available for download from 123.hp.com, includes the HP Utility as part of the essential software install.
HP Driver Deployment Utility and Driver Configuration Utility with Windows operating systems
The HP printer-specific print drivers do not support the HP Driver Deployment Utility and Driver Configuration Utility with Windows operating systems. The HP Universal Print Drivers do support these utilities. For more information and to download the latest version, go to www.hp.com/go/ddu or www.hp.com/go/upd.
NOTE: The “HP PCL-6” version 4 printer-specific print driver in Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 does not support Update Now.
Windows XP only: With a USB connection, do not select Update Now. Bidirectional communication is not available with this operating system and connection. If Update Now is selected, a delay of several minutes occurs while the driver tries to connect and eventually times out.
If the printer configuration has changed since installation, the driver can be automatically updated with the new configuration in environments that support bidirectional communication. From the Start menu, select Printers and Faxes or Devices and Printers, right-click the name of the printer, and then select Properties (with Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, and Windows Server 2008 R2) or Printer Properties (with Windows Vista and Windows 7). On the Device Settings tab, click Automatic Configuration, and then select Update Now. This automatically captures the new configuration in the driver.
With Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012, and Windows Server 2012 R2 and the HP PCL 6 version 3 printer-specific print driver: Scroll to the bottom left of the open desktop, right-click the small window that displays in the lower-left corner, and then select Control Panel. Under Hardware and Sound, select View devices and printers. Right-click the name of the printer, and then select Printer Properties. On the Device Settings tab, click Automatic Configuration, and then select Update Now. This automatically captures the new configuration in the driver.
A print driver is a software program that other software programs use to gain access to the printer features. Typically, one print driver is installed for each printer. The most recent print drivers and printing-system software are available for download from 123.hp.com.
